The MA in Theology offers a thorough grounding in the discipline of Theology for those who wish to understand the Catholic faith and its intellectual traditions in their systematic and historical dimensions. Students interested in the ministry of evangelization may choose the Evangelization Track.
Historical Courses
Complete all of the following courses.
Doctrinal Courses
Choose from the following options:
- Comprehensive Exam Students: Complete 15hrs of coursework from the options below.
- Thesis Students: Complete 12hrs of coursework from the options below.
Capstone
Choose from the following options:
- Comprehensive Exam Students: Complete 3hrs, completing THEO 5369.
- Thesis Students: Complete 6hrs, completing THEO 5367 two times.
Evangelization Concentration
Students with an interest in the ministry of evangelization may choose the Evangelization Concentration in order to take classes more suited to their professional goals. The Evangelization Concentration replaces the Historical Theology Courses with Evangelization Courses and offers a Capstone Project in place of Comprehensive Examinations. When students select this option, the degree plan is as follows:
Doctrinal Courses
Students in the Evangelization Track complete the 15 hours of Doctrinal Courses listed above.
Evangelization Courses
Students complete EVNG 5303 Christ, Culture and Evangelization, and then choose three additional EVNG courses.
Additional Evangelization Concentration Electives
Students complete 6 hours of coursework consisting of any THEO/EVNG courses.
Evangelization Capstone
Students complete an evangelization project in lieu of comprehensive examinations or a thesis.
