Comprehensive Examination Requirements

Complete the following courses. Note: PHIL 5603 MA Comprehensive Exam Preparation Course may be taken but is not required.

Dissertation Requirements

Complete PHIL 6100 (taken no more than six times). PHIL 6600 is available as needed. In addition, students must pass PhD proposal oral exam. After passing the proposal oral exam, students have five years to complete the writing and defense of the dissertation.

Language Requirements

Students must pass PhD Latin exam as well as an additional language exam (Student must pass an exam in French or German. Another language may be substituted at the discretion of the Director of the Center if the student's dissertation work warrants it.).
