The Communication minor at the University of St. Thomas is designed for students who want to become more creative, thoughtful, and ethical communicators - without committing to a full major. In just 15 credit hours, you’ll gain essential tools for understanding and creating media in a world shaped by technology - and called to shape culture in return.
The minor treats communication not just as a practical skill, but as a human and moral practice. You’ll explore how communication connects to truth, responsibility, and the common good - skills that strengthen any vocation, profession, or field of study.
Through a focused mix of required and elective courses, students learn to:
- Read media critically through Media Literacy
- Develop strong communication skills through courses such as Oral Communication and Digital Storytelling
- Examine communication’s ethical and relational dimensions in courses like Media, Society & Technology, Courageous Communication, or Interpersonal & Relational Communication
- Customize the minor with electives that align with your interests and major
Whether you’re studying business, education, theology, the sciences or the arts, a Communication minor will help you communicate ideas clearly, creatively, and responsibly.
