The minimum load a graduate student must carry to be considered full-time* is 9 credit hours in each regular (fall or spring) semester; and less than 6 credit hours are considered part-time. The minimum load to be considered full-time for the summer sessions is 6 credit hours. * Master of Arts in John Paul II Studies and Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing are considered full-time based off 6 credit hours or more.
* Master of Divinity is considered full-time at 6 credit hours during its pastoral internship year for both fall and spring. Doctor of Philosophy students are considered full time if they are enrolled in nine credit hours while taking course work and enrolled in six credit hours during research. The exception is for students who completed their MA externally and did not test out of required courses. They are considered full time if enrolled in three credit hours in their fourth semester. The second exception is for students who completed regular course work and are working on research. They are considered full time if enrolled in six credit hours.
