This course is in continuation of ENGR 5498. This is the second of two four-credit-hour courses for a Master's thesis completed over two semesters (four credit hours per semester). This course involves independent, faculty-supervised research leading to a master’s thesis in semiconductor engineering. Students conduct in-depth study of a specialized topic, which may include semiconductor device physics, microfabrication, materials, nanoelectronics, process integration, or characterization. The work requires formulation of a research problem, critical review of relevant literature, development of methodology, execution of research or simulation, and analysis of results. Students are expected to produce a written thesis and defend their work in an oral examination.
